This work started as an ode to Rocky the original t-boy himbo and a passing monster. Rocky from the Rocky Horror Picture Show just seven hours old with the sword of Damocles hanging over his head, is to me the image of a transexual monster, although maybe a passing one. Drawing on Susan Stryker's definitions of the monster and her ever inspiring words "I am a transexual, and therefore I am a monster". Three video works exploring aspects of ftm transition, the performance of it, the slow tender ritual and the private joy. The choreography displayed in the show is based on Charles Atlas's Dynamic Tension program, the first exercise program you could get in the mail. Charles Atlas was the first to capitalise on selling muscles as a cure for low self-worth in men following the Great Depression. The legacy of his business model is strong today, blossoming on social media, both within the "manosphere" and #tansmasc tiktok. One day I will attempt his ten feats of strength. Song used is Hellfire by Patrick Cowley. The producer and composer scored both gay 80's adult films and the dance floors. He passed from the AIDS pandemic at 32 years old.
